Sevilla midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who was heavily linked with a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window has joined AS Roma for €26.65m with potential add-ons of €4m based on future achievements.
Nzonzi, who has previously played in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City had been earmarked as a possible replacement for Mousa Dembele, who had been linked with what feels like every club side from Beijing to Barcelona.
Dembele has eleven months left to run on his existing contract at Tottenham and with the transfer window still open in Italy, France and Spain until August 31st, he could still potentially move on
Whether Mauricio Pochettino would sanction a sale of one of his players, without being able to sign a replacement until the transfer window re-opens in January remains to be seen.
