Rumoured Tottenham transfer target rushed to hospital

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a whole host of players during the January transfer window, one of the most frequently linked players was Jack Clarke.

The winger was named in the Leeds United side for their trip to Middlesbrough earlier today but was replaced at half time.

The 18-year-old had to receive medical treatment on the bench late in the match and was given oxygen before leaving the Riverside on a stretcher and being transferred for hospital treatment.

The treatment caused the match to be held up for seven minutes after he fell unwell.

Tottenham are not the only Premier League side who are keen on Clarke, with Crystal Palace also keeping tabs on the highly rated prospect (Independent).

Leeds were keen to hold onto Clarke beyond January as they continue their push for a return to the Premier League after many years of Championship football.

The Elland Road outfit has issued a statement confirming the player is now responsive in hospital.

A statement on the official Leeds site read: “Jack Clarke began to feel unwell during the second half of our Sky Bet Championship fixture with Middlesbrough and received medical attention.

“The player is responsive and attending hospital with the club’s head of medicine and performance.

“On behalf of everyone at Leeds United, we would like to thank the medical staff from both clubs for their response to the incident.”
