Harry Redknapp believes Saido Berahino will join Tottenham, but insisted West Brom hold the trump cards.

Spurs have had two bids rejected for the Albion striker, who saw a transfer request dismissed by his club on Monday.

Press Association Sport understands the Baggies are believed to be aggravated by the north London club’s approach, with Spurs’ last bid on Tuesday understood to rise to B#21million only with a series of lengthy add-ons and clauses.

Albion chairman Jeremy Peace has maintained Albion are not looking to sell the 22-year-old, and his resolve has not been broken by Tottenham’s opening offers.

There needs to be a huge change from Spurs for the deal to happen, but former Redknapp expects Berahino to eventually move to White Hart Lane.

“It’s only a game of poker at the moment between (Tottenham chairman) Daniel Levy and Jeremy Peace,” former Tottenham boss Redknapp told talkSPORT.

“Jeremy Peace holds all the aces in that situation because Tottenham are desperate for a striker – he’s the one they’ve identified, so I think the deal will happen before the deadline.

“Everything’s probably all done with the player behind the scenes. He probably has a good idea about where he’s going to live, even.

“All it is now is a game of bluff between the two chairmen, who are trying to get the best deal for their clubs.

“In this case, and in Everton’s case with John Stones, the aces are held by the clubs with the players, because they are two players who are really wanted and they’ll squeeze another million or two out of the deal, for sure.

“Spurs need something at the moment and Berahino’s a good young player, there’s no doubt about that.

“I think it’s a good deal for both clubs and I don’t think (West Brom manager) Tony Pulis is going to lose any sleep over losing him.

“He’s got a few strikers at the club and he’ll be quite happy now to take the money and not have an unhappy man at his club.”

  1. Maybe Levy should just go straight to £25k. It can't be more of a gamble than the Soldado disaster, and at least the WBA player is English, young and already experienced in the PL.

  2. just like moses said to the faroes let my people go so did barino say let me go to tottenham for if this transfere took place we would see a combination not seen since hoddle and waddle for england this is a transfer that needs to happen simply because west brom cannot develop him any further than where he already is this is a fact simply because in comparison to the two teams and the amount of goals kane scored compared to the west brom striker we can clearly see that barino would have scored at least half or more of the goals that tottenham conseeded last season the goals last season that tottenham conseeded was 58 goals and barino only scored half the amount that tottenham striker harry kane did last season and for this reason alone he must leave west brom and move on to his next stage of his development in the international circuit with tottenham in the europa league so that he can make a better england striker. its as simple as that.

  3. yinderlin should stay and fight for his place in the team and should be given the chance to be paired up with trippier before he goes on loan and should only be on loan to a team in the priemereship i think its insulting that a player of his quality is being shipped out of the team like cattle if you want to develope quality then he should be loaned out to a quality team in the priemere league like cristal palice or norwich west brom or everton for the experience not a lower devision simply because they are crying out for tallent thats cheap from the priemeireship that being said then you might as well loan him out to bourmouth at least they have scored more goals than tottenham so far this season personally i think he should remain in the primereship nuff said…

  4. It is many years since I was a season ticket holder but my passion for the Spurs is if anything more intense than it was in the 50 / 60s. I now watch them from the comfort of my armchair when they are on TV.
Spurs Media watch is referred to every hour for news and comments.
GIVE the Lads from the academy a chance before being held to ransom, I feel sure that Pritchard Onomah and the new lad Alli is all the support Harry Kane needs.

  5. The real question is why do we have to hear anything from our blowhard former gaffer. He abandoned us when his head got turned by the England job costing us a chance at Champions league. I'm tired of hearing from him. Let him focus on QPR or Portsmouth if he wants to comment on clubs he's managed.
