Tottenham expect to complete the £20m signing of West Brom forward Saido Berahino, 22, next week according to the Sunday Mirror.
Mauricio Pochettino stated after the disappointing 2-2 draw with Stoke City at White Hart Lane yesterday that he still needs to sign a striker, despite landing Clinton N’Jie earlier in the day who prefers to play in an attacking three.
The report claims that Spurs will offer West Brom a bumper £20million transfer fee with an astronomical £100,000-a-week wage packet for the England Under-21 international. Albion are holding out for £25million, while Spurs are reluctant to go over £20million – so it is thought that the gap of £5million could be made up in add-ons.
We have already seen Roberto Soldado depart back to his homeland after signing for Villarreal, and now we just need to get Emmanuel Adebayor off the wage bill – that will prove more difficult.
