Serge Aurier posts apology after red card against Southampton

Serge Aurier has taken to Instagram to apologise to Tottenham Hotspur supporters after he was sent off against Southampton.

The right-back returned to the Spurs starting eleven after the embarrassing penalty shoot out defeat to Colchester United on Tuesday evening.

Serge Aurier, who had already been booked just minutes before, was sent off in the 32nd minute for a foul on Ryan Bertrand after the Spurs players had felt the ball had gone out of play for a throw in just before the incident.

Aurier said he was sorry for leaving the team reduced to ten men in an important part of the match.

The dismissal saw Spurs having to play for just over an hour with the Saints having a one man advantage but thankfully were unable to put Mauricio Pochettino’s side to the sword.

The Ivorian will now miss the top flight trip to Brighton on Saturday but is eligible for selection for Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
