So, there we have it. AVB has made his first official signing as manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs have confirmed that they have wrapped up a deal for Gylfi Sigurdsson for a fee of around £9million.

A statement on the official site read: “We are delighted to announce that we have completed the transfer of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim.

The attacking midfielder is no stranger to the Premier League having enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Swansea City during the second half of last season.

He scored seven times in 19 appearances as well as picking up the Barclays Player of the Month award for March.

The Iceland international originally moved to England with Reading, coming through their academy to make 51 appearances and scoring 23 times. He was named Player of the Year in his only full season in the Royals First Team before moving to the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim in 2010.”

  1. I think this is a great move and I 'm delighted its done. The guy reminds me a little of steven gerrard (albeit with a different running style). You don't have to pay an arm and a leg to buy real quality, and I think this deal will prove to be a very shrewd signing. The kid has everything that is required from a modern day attack-minded midfielder, strong work ethic, two 'good' feet, scores goals for fun (from inside and outside the box), is very skillful, excellent from set-pieces and can pick a pass. For me, the kid looks like he has everything, and he is still only 22. Whilst there is no doubt he has the potential to improve his overall game even further, the fact that his development is going to be in the famous lilywhite shirt of spurs feels me with a great deal of excitement. Watch this space as this could easily prove to be our BEST AND MOST IMPORTANT signing of the summer. COMMME ON YOU SPURS!!!
