Jan Vertonghen has certainly been the talk among the majority of Tottenham Hotspur fans over the past 24 hours.
The ever reliable central defender was completely left out of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the visit of Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Pochettino said before the game it was a tactical decision to not even name the 32-year-old among the substitutes (BBC).
The Belgian is in the last twelve months of his contract in North London and earlier this month revealed he is happy at the club despite failing to directly answer a question about his contract situation (Ham & High).
Vertonghen took to Twitter earlier today to reply to a Tweet from former Spurs midfielder Nacer Chadli, who has joined Anderlecht on loan from Monaco (Birmingham Mail).
The Spurs defender replied with an Emoji of three flames to congratulate Chadli with supporters of the North London faithful making the most of the opportunity to get their message across to him.
