Spanish news outlet claims Spurs playmaker wants to leave this summer

Spanish sports news outlet, Don Balon has claimed that Christian Eriksen wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The report suggests that the Danish playmaker is attracting interest from current European champions Real Madrid, with Spurs wanting to bring Marco Asensio to the Premier League as part of any potential negotiation.

Eriksen was in instrumental form in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against Barcelona at the Nou Camp on Tuesday night and helped unlock the Catalan defence on a number of occasions with his vision.

Don Balon state that Tottenham value the 26-year-old, who has a year and a half on his current Spurs contract left to run at around €150 million.

Marco Asensio has experienced limited playing time under new manager Santiago Solari. He has scored twenty eight goals in 125 matches for Madrid and has won two Champions League titles.

A report in Marca on Tuesday had suggested that Spurs had already made contact about the possibility of signing Asensio, but the 22-year-old wants to remain at his current club.

Don Balon are known for their inventive stories, so we’ll file this one under a column-filler.
