Spurs announce new stadium to host another major sporting event

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that their state of the art stadium will host a rugby league international test match between England and Australia as part of the 2020 Rugby League Ashes series.

The fixture will take place on Saturday 14th November at 5:30 pm and will be the first time which the venue has been used for rugby league.

The 62,062 capacity seater venue has already hosted two American Football matches last month as part of a ten-year agreement with the NFL.

A rugby union match between Saracens and face Harlequins has already been confirmed to be held at the venue on Saturday 28th March 2020 and agreed to a five-year deal to play their annual showpiece match in North London (BBC).

The stadium which officially opened in April for the Premier League visit of Crystal Palace (The Sun) has received rave reviews from visitors (THST).

Opinion

Delays were encountered with the development of the stadium which opened 690 days over the original date, costing in the region of £1billion (The Sun); however, it now appears that the wait was worth it considering the number of events which the venue is attracting along with the income it will generate for the club.
