Spurs confirm first team player will not travel on pre-season tour

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Eric Dier will miss the club’s upcoming pre-season tour.

Spurs travel to the Far East on Wednesday but will be without the England international after undergoing ‘a medical procedure’ to correct an issue which was detected upon his return to the club.
The 25-year-old has just experienced a season ravaged by injury and illness which limited him to just 20 appearances in the Premier League last season.
The recruitment of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon looks an even smarter move given Dier’s recent unpredictability to be fit and will certainly face a battle to earn a regular first team place.
Alongside Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks were impressive as a midfield pair last season.
Frustratingly for Dier he misses the opportunity to build some match fitness ahead of the new season and will be hoping that this is just a minor blip compared to his luck of last year.
A statement on the official site read: “Eric Dier has undergone a medical procedure to correct an issue detected during medical assessments on the first day of pre-season training.
”Following the successful procedure Eric will now undertake a short period of rehabilitation. He will therefore not travel on the Club’s pre-season tour to Singapore and Shanghai.”
