Spurs confirm January departure of senior player

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Danny Rose has completed his loan switch to Newcastle United.

The 29-year-old left back has made the move to St James Park on a deal until the end of the season; the announcement from the club did not specify whether the Magpies have an option or an obligation to make the deal permanent.

Rose is Tottenham’s longest serving senior player having been in North London since moving from Leeds United thirteen years ago.

Jose Mourinho recently denied reports that he and Rose were involved in a training ground row and also claimed the defender was still a part of his future plans.

However, just a short time later Rose finds himself playing under Steve Bruce having not been involved in Tottenham’s last four matches.

Sky Sports reported earlier that Newcastle will pay a £2million fee to Spurs for the loan but it does not include an obligation or option to make the move permanent (Sky Sports).
