Spurs confirm massive injury blow after 27-year-old is set for surgery

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a significant injury blow with the news that Heung-min Son has suffered a fracture to his right arm.

The South Korean sustained the injury during the 3-2 victory at Aston Villa on Sunday in the Premier League and will have to undergo surgery later this week to rectify the issue.

Son had earlier scored two goals in the win in the Midlands, including the dramatic late winner.

Spurs stopped short of putting a timeframe on how long the 27-year-old is expected to be sidelined for by instead describing it as a number of weeks.

The striker will now miss tomorrow night’s Champions League round of sixteen first leg tie against RB Leipzig in North London.

He joins Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko on the sidelines, after the pair underwent surgery last month for respective hamstring and knee injuries.

Opinion

This is a massive blow for Tottenham’s hopes of a top four finish and must surely now see Troy Parrott given more of an opportunity to step up and show his potential.
