Spurs confirm player has undergone surgery

Tottenham Hotspur have revealed that Harry Winks has today undergone surgery on his groin.

The midfielder has not featured since he played 81 minutes of the 1-0 win against Manchester City in the Champions League semi final first leg at the new Spurs stadium on April 9th.

Winks has been impressive this season in the middle of midfield alongside Moussa Sissoko, making 26 appearances and scoring one goal; which came in the dying moments of the dramatic victory away to Fulham.

The England international is now likely to miss the rest of the season with the club confirming on their official site that the medical staff will monitor his progress after going under the knife.

It’s a big blow for the boyhood Spurs fan who will miss the opportunity to play in the Champions League semi final against Ajax, the 23-year-old suffered his fair share of injuries last season and was starting to show some of his best form.

A statement read: “Harry Winks has today (Monday 29 April) undergone groin surgery.

“The England midfielder will be monitored by our medical staff as he continues his recovery before commencing rehabilitation.”
