Spurs defender left out of Champions League squad

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed their initial squad for this season’s Champions League campaign which has seen Juan Foyth left out.

It is the second successive season in which the young Argentine has been omitted from the squad, having been left out at the knockout stages last season.

The defender is currently recovering from a thigh injury which he sustained in a behind closed doors pre-season friendly against Brentford and has not featured all season.

Foyth had been tipped with a possible loan move to Championship outfit Leeds United, who are managed by Pochettino’s former boss Marco Bielsa but has not been able to recover in time.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Vincent Janssen have also been left out. Both players had been heavily linked with a summer move away from the club, but Janssen’s chances of an exit were scuppered by the fact he had to undergo foot surgery.

Tottenham A List: Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm, Paolo Gazzaniga, Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier, Danny Rose, Ben Davies, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama, Harry Winks, Mousa Dembele, Moussa Sissoko, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela, Harry Kane, Fernando Llorente

Kyle Walker-Peters and Luke Amos are among young players who are eligible for the B list.
