Spurs fans frustrated with Edwards omission

Marcus Edwards may have only made only one senior appearance for Tottenham Hotspur, but that has not stopped him from gaining somewhat of a cult following among the fanbase.

Mauricio Pochettino’s reference of comparing Edwards to a young Lionel Messi due to his low centre of gravity and ability to beat a man only raised his stock even further, but we’ve only seen Edwards in first team action for 15 minutes during the EFL Cup win against Gillingham last September.

Unfortunately there will be no repeat of third round League Cup action for Edwards this season when Spurs take on Barnsley at Wembley after the Spurs boss revealed that the starlet will not be in his squad despite impressing during the recent 4-0 win against Borussia Dortmund.

Pochettino instead claimed that Edwards absence is due tot he fact that he needs to play more football at this standard to build up his condition after missing a large chunk of last season through injury.

Instead, Edwards lined up for the Under-23’s in Premier League two action against Swansea City this evening to the frustration of Spurs fans.

Here’s a selection of musings from the fanbase…
