Spurs make formal offer for highly rated prospect claim reports in his own country

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to have lodged a ‎€200,000 offer for Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.

According to the Irish Independent, the performances of the 16-year-old who is already playing first-team football have caught the attention of Tottenham, along with a host of other clubs.

Championship outfit Norwich City have already had a bid rejected, while Manchester City, Celtic and Liverpool are all said to be monitoring the situation ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline. Bazunu had a trial spell at Celtic last month, but a formal offer has yet to materialise.

Bazunu has featured six times for the Irish side so far this season and has only conceded two goals, one apiece in their Europa League matches against AIK.

The youngster already has five caps for Ireland Under-15’s and is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest goalkeeping talents.

Spurs are said to have offered Bazunu a four-year contract and he will remain with Shamrock until he completes his school qualifications next June.
