Spurs midfielder linked with possible return to France

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou could find himself playing his football back in France by the end of this month.

The Tottenham Hotspur winger is being linked with a move to Ligue 1 outfit Saint-Etienne, if they are unable to land their primary transfer target, according to reports in France.

The French club are hoping to sign former Newcastle United player Remy Cabella, but have earmarked Nkoudou as an alternative transfer option.

Despite scoring against Barcelona and AC Milan during Tottenham’s International Champions Cup campaign during pre-season, Nkoudou still found himself left out of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the Premier League opener at Newcastle United on Saturday.

The 23-year-old has failed to make an impact at the club since his switch from Marseille a couple of years ago and couldn’t break into the Burnley side after joining the Clarets on loan in January.

With the transfer window still open for many European leagues until August 31st, Nkoudou could find himself packing his bags sooner rather than later.
