Spurs on alert after Premier League star rejects new contract

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be on high alert after Wilfried Zaha snubbed a new £120,000-a-week contract at Crystal Palace, according to The Sun.

Knowing our track record of paying wages, I struggle to think how we would be in the ballpark to sign Zaha unless we are willing once again break the wage structure at the club. The current top earner at Spurs is Harry Kane, who signed a six-year deal worth £200,000-a-week before the World Cup kicked off, while the second highest earner is Hugo Lloris who earns around £100,000-a-week.

The winger is 15 months into a five-year contract at Selhurst Park, where he currently takes home £100,000-a-week and are said to be mulling over an improved £135,000-a-week offer.

There is no doubt that Zaha would add an extra dimension to our final third, he has the pace and trickery which we are crying out for. We miss natural width to our play, but it wouldn’t come cheap, with Palace said to value the 25-year-old at around £70million.

Zaha is apparently open to test himself at a big club once again, following his failed spell at Manchester United. Borussia Dortmund and Everton are both said to be monitoring the situation.
