Spurs pair return home from USA tour

“Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that two of their players have returned home to London from the tour of the USA.

Victor Wanyama will undergo further tests on a knee injury he picked up before Tottenham’s 4-1 win against AS Roma, with fears that it could be the same problem that kept him out of action for four months last season.

The former Southampton midfielder’s knee issues stem from a heavy knock in a friendly last summer and it took until late December for the midfielder to be pain-free.

Wanyama described the injury as the lowest point of his career, hopefully, the medical staff can work their magic and get Wanyama back fit soon.

Tottenham’s midfield issues are compounded by the fact that Harry Winks and Josh Onomah both missed the USA tour through injury, while Moussa Sissoko picked up a hamstring strain in the 2-2 draw with Barcelona this morning and Erik Lamela was not risked with a niggle.

Pochettino told Football.London: “Victor Wanyama has gone back with Tashan [Oakley-Boothe] to London because they need to see the doctor there. We’re going to assess him in the next few days and see what happens.”

When asked further if Wanyama’s injury was the same as before, Poch added: ‘Yes, it is the same.”

If this doesn’t prove to Daniel Levy that we need to bring in new players, nothing will.
