Spurs pair sign contract extensions to remain at the club

Jan Vertonghen has agreed to sign a contract extension at Tottenham Hotspur for the remainder of the season.

The Belgian is joined by goalkeeper Michel Vorm who has also put pen to paper on a deal to see out the current campaign.

Vorm re-joined Tottenham in October in order to provide extra cover after Hugo Lloris suffered an elbow injury in the defeat at Brighton.

Spurs had until tomorrow to finalise any short-term extensions for players who were due to be out of contract at the end of the month (Daily Mail).

Vertonghen’s long-term future in North London remains uncertain with the 33-year-old having been linked with a move away from the club.

The Express claimed that Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho had scrapped talks with Vertonghen about the prospect of a new deal.

In recent days, Serie A giants Roma have emerged as a possible destination for the former Ajax man (Il Messaggero).
