Spurs player snubbed opportunity to join Premier League side

Tottenham Hotspur defender Serge Aurier is reported to have rejected a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Daily Star claim that Tottenham originally wanted to include the Ivorian in the deal to bring Matt Doherty to North London.

Tottenham announced yesterday that they had completed the signing of the Republic of Ireland international on a deal until 2024.

Aurier, who has snubbed an opportunity to sign a new contract is reported to have been attracting interest from Europe with AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen both said to be keen on the right-back (Sky Sports).

The report suggests that Spurs were hoping to do a straight exchange between the two defenders only for Aurier to reject the opportunity with his preference to be a move back to the continent with AC Milan at the top of his list.

Aurier joined Spurs Paris Saint-Germain in August 2017 for £23million and found himself out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino at the start of last season but became first-choice when Jose Mourinho took charge.
