Tottenham Hotspur have received a boost to their finances with the news that their request to increase the new stadium capacity has been approved.
The capacity for the new Spurs stadium was set to be 61,559, but Haringey Council have approved of plans to raise that to 62,062.
The stadium will be the largest club stadium in London (I’m excluding West Ham from this as it is the tax payers stadium, not their own) and will hold 2,195 more than the Emirates.
Fans are now eagerly waiting the commencement of the roof lift, which seems to be behind schedule due to weather conditions.
The whole process takes a number of weeks and is dependent further on weather conditions. Once in place, the roof will form the highest point of our new home.
There is the added pressure of being ready on time because the stadium will hold its first NFL game – as part of a ten-year agreement – when the Seattle Seahawks play the Oakland Raiders in Tottenham on October 14.
