Spurs set to miss out to Liverpool on transfer target

Liverpool have stolen a march on Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Xherdan Shaqiri after it was revealed that the Anfield outfit have opened talks with Stoke City.

The Swiss international, who featured at the World Cup is available for in the region of £12 million as per his release clause following Stoke’s relegation to the Championship.

Shaqiri, 26, has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham since the end of the last campaign. While some fans judge the player by his stocky stature, he created 77 chances in the 2017/18 Premier League season; Pascal Groß (82) was the only player outside of the top-six clubs to create more.

One thing we are crying out for is creativity when Christian Eriksen is not in the side or is having an off day, we struggle to unlock a defence. At £12 million, which is a bargain in today’s over-inflated world of transfer fees, he would have certainly been worth taking a chance on.
