Spurs star told to stay away from training

Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen has been missing from Denmark’s pre-World Cup training camp.

The Dane has his partner Sabrina Kvist Jensen are expecting their first child and as a result has been given permission by his national coach Age Hareide to remain in the city of Odense until the baby is born, rather than rushing back and fore to training.

Eriksen was instrumental in guiding Denmark to the World Cup, notably his stunning display in the play-off against the Republic of Ireland, where he bagged a hat-trick.

As a result of the impending arrival, Eriksen is expected to miss his country’s match on Saturday against Mexico in Brondby, which is their final warm-up game before they make the trip to Russia where they find themselves in a group with France, Peru and Australia.

Their first game is against Peru on June 16th, when they take on Peru in Saransk, Mordovia.

Hareide told the Danish media: “I’ve said he’s going to stay there until everything’s in place so he’s not going to drive back and forth on the highway, because it’s a stress factor. So he stays in Odense until everything is over.”

We pass on our best wishes to Eriksen and his family.
