Spurs team news vs Watford: One ruled out, one doubt and two return

A Tottenham Hotspur team news update has been provided by journalists attending today’s press conference at Hotspur Way ahead of the return of the Premier League on Saturday.

Following the international break, Watford are the visitors to North London with both sides having experienced a disappointing start to the new campaign by their own standards.

Spurs are currently ninth in the table after only managing to win three of their opening eight top flight fixtures while the Hornets are rooted to the bottom still looking for their first win.

Mauricio Pochettino will certainly be looking for a response from his players after watching his side concede ten goals across the defeats to Bayern Munich and Brighton.

Club captain Hugo Lloris misses out as expected with the fractured elbow he sustained during the 3-0 loss on the south coast and is unlikely to return to training this year.

Christian Eriksen suffered a dead leg while on international duty with Denmark and is being assessed ahead of the match.

Giovani Lo Celso (hip) and Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring) have both returned to full training.

Opinion

On paper, this seems like the ideal fixture for Spurs to bounce back to winning ways; but given how the season has unfolded to date, there will be some nerves from the fanbase going into the match.
