Some Tottenham Hotspur fans took to Twitter after the 3-2 win against Bournemouth this afternoon in response to a pivotal part of the match.
Leading 3-2 in injury time, Spurs found themselves under pressure from the Cherries and a brilliant tackle by Jan Vertonghen denied Callum Wilson from stopping them from taking a point.
While Dele Alli will receive the plaudits for his two-goal display after continuing his resurgence under new head coach Jose Mourinho, credit has to be given to the Belgian for his heroic last-ditch tackle.
When it looked as if Wilson was ready to pull the trigger, Vertonghen’s left leg poked the ball away from the England international to ensure all three points remained in North London.
The 32-year-old returned to the starting line up following his recent hamstring problem and certainly repaid Mourinho’s faith in him after being selected to play at left-back ahead of Danny Rose, who had to make do with a place on the bench.
Here’s how some Spurs fans reacted after the club’s official Twitter account posted a Tweet acknowledging the tackle.
