Tanguy Ndombele explains why his relationship with Jose Mourinho has improved

Tanguy Ndombele has opened up on his relationship with Jose Mourinho and why it has improved this season.

ESPN claimed in June that the French international had told Mourinho that he never wanted to play for him again after a row erupted between the pair in training which carried on following the session at the Portuguese’s office at the Hotspur Way complex.

Ndombele had a difficult first season in North London and struggled following Mourinho’s arrival in November which saw the head coach criticise the former Lyon man for his lethargic first half display against Burnley in March (Independent).

Mourinho revealed last month that the 23-year-old was working better than ever and has since found himself back in the starting eleven (TeamTalk).

Ndombele has admitted that he and Mourinho had problems last season but have decided to put their differences aside for the benefit of the club.

The midfielder was on target in Tottenham’s 6-1 thrashing of Manchester United on Sunday when he scored the equaliser at Old Trafford.

“We had a few differences last season, the coach and I,” he told RMC Sport as translated by Football.London.

“Aside from that, we are trying to each put our egos to one side, to allow the club to advance. For the moment things are working for the better, let’s continue like that.”
