Team News: Five Spurs players ruled out for FA Cup tie at Middlesbrough; three return

Tottenham Hotspur have provided a team news update to journalists in attendance at Jose Mourinho’s pre-Middlesbrough press conference at Hotspur Way this afternoon.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of Mourinho answering questions prior to Sunday’s visit to the Riverside Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup.

As expected, long-term absentees Hugo Lloris (elbow) and Ben Davies (ankle) remain sidelined along with Danny Rose (calf) and are joined by Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele.

Both Kane and Ndombele picked up injuries during the New Year’s Day defeat at Southampton.

Ndombele was forced off in the first half at St Mary’s with a hip problem while Kane sustained a hamstring injury in the 75th minute and was later seen leaving the stadium on crutches (Daily Mail).

One shred of positive news is that Heung-min Son is once again available after the South Korean served his three-match suspension following the red card he received against Chelsea prior to Christmas.

Eric Dier and Kyle Walker-Peters are also available.

Evening Standard journalist, Dan Kilpatrick confirmed the news.
