Team News – Five missing for Spurs for opener against Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur have this afternoon provided a team news update ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League opener at the new stadium tomorrow evening.

Newcomers Aston Villa are the visitors to N17 and Spurs fans will certainly be expecting their side to take the maximum three points from the match to kick off their campaign with a win.

As expected, Dele Alli (hamstring) and Juan Foyth (ankle and currently serving suspension) are both sidelined while Ben Davies has returned to training following his groin surgery during the summer but is still building his fitness.

Heung-min Son serves the second of his three match suspension following his dismissal towards the end of last season at Bournemouth.

Ryan Sessegnon is still recovering from a hamstring injury. There is a boost with the news that Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama have returned to full training.

The match will be the first time which Spurs have started a league season at home since 2010, following eight successive seasons with an away match to begin their league campaign.

Nothing less than three points will do if we are to challenge for the title.
