Team News: Jose Mourinho provides squad update ahead of Man City match

Jose Mourinho has provided a team news update to journalists who have dialled into Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-Manchester City press conference from Hotspur Way this afternoon.

Such is the protocol, the media are informed of the availability of the Spurs squad ahead of Mourinho answering questions prior to the visit of their the former Premier League champions to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tomorrow evening.

Pre-match press conferences continue to take place on the Zoom video conferencing after the coronavirus pandemic means that journalists can no longer attend Hotspur Way in person.

Tottenham headed into the international break in second place in the table and the prospect of locking horns with Pep Guardiola’s side will certainly test the North Londoners’ resolve of their title credentials.

Mourinho has revealed that he will have a better understanding of the condition of his players during this afternoon’s training session.

Harry Winks has returned to Tottenham following international duty with England with a small unspecified issue, while Erik Lamela is still sidelined.

Heung-min Son is available after testing negative on two occasions for COVID-19 after he featured for South Korea.

Steven Bergwijn is also available for selection after he recovered from a problem which led to him having to withdraw from the Holland squad

As previously reported, Matt Doherty is unavailable after the right-back tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland (The Athletic).
