Tottenham Hotspur were unable to cause an upset against champions-elect Liverpool who now sit a staggering 31 points ahead of the North Londoners in the Premier League table.

Jose Mourinho was without the services of star man Harry Kane on an evening where Spurs did carve out chances but frustratingly were unable to make it count.

Heung-min Son and Giovani Lo Celso were both guilty of missing chances which they should have scored and Harry Kane would normally have dispatched.

The defeat means that Spurs are now nine points adrift of rivals Chelsea who occupy fourth place.

Spurs certainly showed a vast improvement compared to the recent performances against Norwich and Southampton which will be one shred of consolation.

Christian Eriksen was handed a start by Mourinho and the Spurs contract rebel was disappointing.  Some fans also felt that Liverpool got away with a red card when Andy Robertson’s studs made contact with Premier League debutant Japhet Tanganga’s boot.

Here’s a selection of reaction from the North London faithful.
