“The club must have been Everton” – Some fans react to Spurs player wage snub rumour

Tottenham Hotspur completed their first summer signing earlier this week when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg joined the North Londoners.

The Danish international made the move to the capital after a deal worth around £15million was agreed with Southampton (Metro).

With Eric Dier having decided on a positional change and drop into the heart of the defence coupled with Victor Wanyama’s departure, Hojbjerg was brought in to bolster the holding midfield role.

Some Spurs fans took to Twitter to react to a report from The Athletic which claimed that the 25-year-old had snubbed more lucrative contract offers from elsewhere following interest from Everton, Monaco and Ajax but had already made his mind up that he wanted to make the switch to Jose Mourinho’s side.

The former Saints captain joined from Bayern Munich in 2016 but was set to enter the final year of his contract at St Mary’s.

Here is what some supporters had to say.
