The four matches that Son will miss for Tottenham this season

Earlier today, it was officially confirmed that Heung-min Son will be part of the South Korea squad for the Asia Cup.

The tournament kicks off in Jakarta on August 14th, with the team comprising of a 20-man squad that includes four over-aged players who appeared at World Cup of which Son is the headline name.

Under Korean law, all men must do 21 months of National Service before their 28th birthday, unless they earn an exemption. Winning gold at the Asia Cup could be Son’s last opportunity to gain an exemption for sports stars who perform exceptionally at major tournaments.

The Premier League matches that Son will miss are:-

  • Newcastle United (away)
  • Fulham (home)
  • Manchester United (away)
  • Watford (away)

Son will probably return to Tottenham in time for the first-ever match at the new stadium when Liverpool are the visitors, but whether he will be ready to slot back into the squad remains to be seen.
