The reason why Hugo Lloris did not play against Manchester City

Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters were left wondering about the whereabouts of goalkeeper Hugo Lloris after he was not included in today’s squad to face Manchester City.

Instead, Paulo Gazzaniga took his place between the posts with Michel Vorm coming in as cover on the substitutes bench.

Gazzaniga looked nervous, notably in the first half when he gave away a couple of corners through poor distribution and handling.

Ahead of the match, it was confirmed that Lloris had suffered a slight muscle problem during the Champions League win against City on Wednesday evening and was left back in London as a precaution.

It is hoped that the Frenchman will be fit and ready to return to the side for Tuesday night’s match at the new Spurs stadium against Premier League strugglers Brighton.

Lloris has been in good form as of late, having saved a crucial penalty against City in the first leg of the European tie and made important stops in the second leg.
