Over the years Tottenham have made some outrageously talented signings, and some downright stinkers.

Jan Vertonghen
Super Jan, you have to feel for the man a bit. For the past three seasons, especially this years’ transfer window, all the talk has been of the talents of Toby Alderweireld.
Somehow Toby’s long-term partner in crime Jan Vertonghen is always overlooked when talk turns to world class centre-backs.
The towering Belgian signed for Spurs in 2012 from Ajax, paying a fee in the region of £10m.
Since then, Jan has gone on to play 243 games for Spurs, scoring nine goals in his seven seasons in North London (only one less than Mousa Dembele).
Vertonghen has developed into one of the finest left-footed centre-backs in all of world football, and has countless years left ahead of him.
His elegant play on the ball, his weight of pass, solid defending, leadership and versatility make him one of the most underrated defenders around.
