Three surprises in the Spurs squad to face Fulham

There were three surprise returns to Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for the visit of Fulham this afternoon.

The biggest surprise has to be the inclusion of Toby Alderweireld in the starting line up of a central defensive trio alongside Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen.
Alderweireld was named among the subs last weekend at Newcastle after being constantly linked with a move away from the club, notably to Manchester United and more recently Bayern Munich.
It’s great to see Toby back in the side and Poch has the faith to start him, despite recent matters.
Elsewhere, I was pleasantly surprised to see Harry Winks named among the substitutes following his injury problems which have plagued him over recent months. Hopefully he can now put this behind him and show the form that saw him gain his first England cap.
Erik Lamela was the third surprise following his thigh muscle problem, another player who has had more than his share of injury issues.
The bench looks very strong from an attacking perspective, now let’s go and get the win. COYS!
