Tottenham break Premier League record

Tottenham Hotspur’s victory against Newcastle United has seen them become the new holders of a Premier League record.

Heung-min Son’s 83rd minute goal gave the home side a 1-0 victory against the Magpies and ensured that the three points moved Spurs up to second in the Premier League table.

The win also meant that Spurs now outright hold the record of the most consecutive games in the Premier League without a draw, a run which spans 29 matches.

The previous record (28) was one which Spurs shared with Bolton Wanderers who achieved the feat back in 2011.

Spurs fans certainly will not mind the record continuing, as long as it means it is extended through victories rather than defeats.

Next up for Mauricio Pochettino’s side is the visit of Leicester City to Wembley in the Premier League next Sunday.

It is a rare instance for Spurs to now have a week to recover and prepare for their next match after having to play a match nearly every three days in recent weeks.
