Tottenham confirm winger has signed a new contract

Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Anthony Georgiou has signed a new contract with the club until 2021.

The versatile left-sided player was included by Mauricio Pochettino in Tottenham’s pre-season tour of the Far East and subsequent Audio Cup tournament in Germany and made the most of the opportunity to impress.

With Ben Davies sidelined, Georgiou was utilised as one of two left-backs along with Danny Rose.

The club also revealed that the 22-year-old, who typically operates on the left wing has headed out on loan to League One outfit Ipswich Town until January to gain some further first-team footballing experience.

Georgiou joins George Marsh and Kazaiah Sterling in heading out of the club on a loan basis in recent days, with Marsh joining Leyton Orient until January and Sterling spending the season at Doncaster Rovers.

He has previous experience of spending time out on loan having made 11 appearances for Levante B in the Spanish Segunda Division B for the second half of last season.
