Tottenham issue warning to supporters ahead of Newcastle match

Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s clash against Newcastle United on Sunday in the Premier League, some fans have received an email from the club.

The communication has warned supporters who are located in the single tier 17,500 capacity south stand about persistent standing within the respective area of the stadium.

Whilst they admit that they expect supporters to stand on occasions during key moments of a match, they stressed that continual standing could result in areas of the stadium having to be closed by safety authorities.

Areas at the front of South Stand, as well as in the visiting supporters’ section were future-proofed for safe standing, both are areas where the club had issues with persistent standing when at its former White Hart Lane home.

Tottenham have reminded supporters that despite these areas having been future-proofed, those in attendance are not currently able to stand to watch the match.

It remains to be seen how much tolerance stewards will have for standing when the Magpies visit this weekend.
