Gareth Bale - Header

Gomes (7) – Not much to do as in general, the goal apart, he was well protected.

Corluka (6) – It’s difficult for him without Lennon in front of him as Kranjcar wandered all over the shop. Struggled with Olsson on occasions.

Assou-Ekotto (7) – Combined well with Bale going forward. Comfortable at the back.

Dawson (7) – Will be disappointed with himself for the goal.

Bassong (7) – Did well given the amount the ball was in the air.

Bale (9) – Strong, skilful, speedy and superb.

Palacios (8) – Full of energy as ever, some great runs to support the attack. Seems to have raised his game to cope with having the comparatively lightweight Modric alongside him.

Modric (7) – Great ball for the opening goal but some dodgy decision making after half time cost us the chance to get further ahead earlier.

Kranjcar (6) – Rarely spent much time on the right.  Didn’t waste possession and worked hard but a bit peripheral.

Defoe (7) – Perhaps not as involved as he’d like to be but gets a seven for nicking the first, vital goal.

Pav (8) – Found space where Defoe often couldn’t and you can’t argue with two more goals.

  1. The three points where very welcome but the performance worries me a little because of our defence and midfield. If our Defence keeps giving the ball away cheaply then better teams will punish us all our defence gave Blackburn the ball back when clearing from defence. Bassong on a few occasions headed the ball out when he had Ekotto next to him anda little cushioned header would have meant we where attacking Dawson has been Learning of big Tom but after five passes even Saldago cottoned on. I cant blame him for the Samba goal because he got fouled but Kalanic disallowed goal was clumsy and he should have let him bring the ball down then deal with its. There ae times when Gomes should shout to Dawson to cushion the ball of is head back to him this has only happened once this season Ekotto ball across the field was stupid to put it mildly. Now the Midfield are playing to far apart at times and having to hit long passes to find each other and losing the ball the two most guilty of this Moderic and Kranjcar with Palacios joining in on occasions ..Harry should have taken Ekotto of and brought Gudjohnson played three at the back then Kaboul for Palacios and played five men to stop Blackburn .This would be my Midfied when we where 2-0 up Kranjcar Kaboul Palacios Gudjohson Bale Whith these three at the back Corluka Dawson Bassong this would have stopped our nervous defending
