Tottenham Player Ratings vs Portsmouth

Tom Huddlestone - Header

Gomes (8) – Two fine saves in the first half plus some decent punching.

Walker (7) – A good debut. Increased in confidence as the game went on. Great to see some zip down the right to match Bale on the left.

Bale (8) – Another superbly athletic and powerful display. It seems almost unreal that he carries on at this level week after week.

Bassong (7) – Found Kanu a bit baffling as Spurs defenders often do but solid otherwise.

Dawson (7) – Led by example as ever, fingers crossed his injury isn’t serious. He’s needed.

Bentley (6) – Played alright but you do get fed up of him cutting back onto his left and then back onto his right and back onto his left etc etc. Some good dead balls.

Huddlestone (7) – His standing has improved whilst he’s been away. Even though we’ve been winning we’ve missed his ability to keep and control possession.

Modric (7) – Flitted in and out. Combined well with Bale especially for the first goal.

Kranjcar (7) – Lots of skill. Took his goal very adroitly.

Crouch (8) – Also took his goal well and could’ve had a couple of others. One sublime & unexpected bit of skill in the corner entertained the Paxton End.

Gudjohnsen (6) – Relatively anonymous today. Drifted into space nicely but probably had his back to goal too often.
