Tottenham run a genius Man of the Match poll in tribute to player after beating Ajax

The Tottenham Hotspur social media team have come up with a stroke of genius with their Man of the Match poll on Twitter following the historic result against Ajax in the Champions League semi final second leg.

After each first team match, the club run a poll which allows supporters to vote for one of four players who have featured in a respective match. However, they decided to feature Lucas Moura’s name four times and dedicate the poll solely to the Brazilian after his heroics.

The Brazilian bagged a second half hat-trick in dramatic circumstances to propel the club to the final of Europe’s most prestigious club competition for the first time in history.

Spurs looked to be almost dead and buried at half time after Ajax raced to a two goal lead in the opening 45 minutes which gave the Dutch side a 3-0 aggregate advantage.

Credit must be given to Mauricio Pochettino for his decision to throw on Fernando Llorente as a target man for the second half and Ajax simply couldn’t cope when Spurs decided to play off the Spaniard with a more direct style of play.

Lucas Moura took all three goals perfectly and thoroughly deserves the praise showered on him.
