Tottenham get themselves a Wimmer

It is being reported this evening that Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Cologne central defender Kevin Wimmer.

The Sunday People claim that Wimmer will become a Spurs player on June 1 in a £4.25millon deal after terms were agreed last week.

The 23-year-old Austrian international has been identified to try and improve our central defensive ranks.  Federico Fazio has failed to set the world alight since joining the club, while Vlad Chiriches has shown many times that he can be a liability – leaving only Vertonghen and Dier as capable defenders.

The report claims that Franco Baldini has been tasked with clearing out a raft of players which he helped to recruit to the club – how he still has a job is remarkable in my opinion.   Among those rumoured to be heading for the exists at N17 are Emmanuel Adebator, Roberto Soldado, Erik Lamela,  Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Benjamin Stambouli, Vlad Chiriches, Younes Kaboul and Federico Fazio.

Whoever is left, turn off the lights.
