Twist in Dembele’s move to China

It appears that there has been a twist in Mousa Dembele’s move to China.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder jetted off to the far east earlier today to complete his move to the Chinese Super League with many tipping him to be signing for Beijing Sinobo Guoan (Sky Sports).

However, it has now materialised that the 31-year-old now looks set to make the move to league rivals Guangzhou R&F.

The Belgian’s contract with Tottenham is due to expire at the end of the season and a transfer fee of £9million has been mentioned.

Dembele has been a fantastic servant to the club with his Rolls Royce-like displays in the center of Tottenham Hotspur’s midfield since he completed his switch from Fulham in 2012.

Unfortunately, injuries have taken their toll in recent years and he has been unable to consistently play week in, week out at the highest level.

It looks as if the last time supporters would have seen Dembele in a Spurs shirt was in the 3-2 win at Wolves in November, where he picked up an ankle injury which has ruled him out of action ever since.

He made 181 appearances for Spurs in the Premier League.
