Two Spurs players are cut from England’s Nations League squad

England have trimmed their squad for the upcoming Nations League finals next month which has seen two Tottenham Hotspur players miss out.

Right-back Kieran Trippier and midfielder Harry Winks have both been cut by national team boss Gareth Southgate along with Southampton’s Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse after finalising his 23-man squad (FA).

Trippier has gone from scoring a stunning free-kick during England’s World Cup semi-final defeat at the hands of Croatia to struggling with his form for Tottenham throughout the current season.

Winks, who also will not be on the plane to Portugal has only recently returned to training following a groin operation but is expected to be included in Tottenham’s squad for the Champions League final against Liverpool in Madrid on Saturday.

Danny Rose, Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier all retain their place.

England face the Netherlands in their semi-final in Guimaeres, while Portugal will face Switzerland in Porto.
