Video: Alderweireld’s recurring mention of the fans in interview after Watford draw

Toby Alderweireld reflected that if Tottenham Hotspur could have equalised against Watford earlier they would have gone on to win the game.

It is a very optimistic viewpoint from the Belgian considering how at sea we were defensively throughout the match.

Interviews through the official Spurs TV channel are always angled towards a positive angle with the 30-year-old insisting that Tuesday is a big opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Red Star Belgrade are the visitors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a crucial Champions League clash for Mauricio Pochettino’s side if they are to stand a chance of reaching the knockout stages.

After picking up just a single point from their opening two matches, Spurs realistically need to win both back-to-back fixtures against the Serbian outfit.

Alderweireld called for the three points to be won together between the squad, club and fans under the lights.

Opinion

Listening to the interview, Alderweireld mentions the supporters at least three times in a bid to try and get them behind the team.

The Belgian should know that we are always in support of the team but expect a certain level of heart and display from our players; he should also sign a contract extension or certainly remain quiet on what our fans should be doing.
