Video: Danny Rose opens up on playing under Mourinho; why he left for Newcastle

Danny Rose has claimed that he was not given the same opportunities as other defenders to prove himself at Tottenham Hotspur under Jose Mourinho.

Rose only made five appearances for the Champions League finalists following the arrival of Mourinho at the end of November, having turned out 16 times whilst Mauricio Pochettino was in charge.

The England international completed a loan move to Newcastle United towards the en of the January transfer window for the remainder of the season.

The 29-year-old admitted that he thought he would have featured more often and wanted to play under the Portuguese.

With the Euros coming up in the summer, Rose admitted that he wanted to play on a regular basis to secure his place in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad.
