Video: “Everybody is unhappy” – Paul Merson offers blunt assessment of Tottenham

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has claimed that the Jose Mourinho and the Tottenham playing squad are currently unhappy and need to pull together in order to turn around their fortunes.

The Sky Sports pundit believes that the strongest Spurs starting eleven in recent seasons was good enough to beat anyone in the Premier League and has speculated that the players may have become disheartened at losing their grip on challenging for the title.

Merson described the current style of play of Jose Mourinho’s side as not entertaining whereas he has previously enjoyed watching the North Londoners take to the field with their free-flowing, energetic fast style of football which they enjoyed under Mauricio Pochettino.

The 52-year-old highlighted his claim by suggesting that the team now looks thrown to together with the attackers and midfielders seeming to be on a different page.

Spurs lost the opportunity last night to close the gap on the top four after being held to a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.
