Tim Sherwood has claimed that Dele Alli would not have made it at Tottenham Hotspur if Jose Mourinho was the manager when he moved to North London.
Dele has scored two goals in two games since the Portuguese took over as head coach after finding the back of the net against West Ham and Olympiacos.
The 23-year-old moved to Tottenham from MK Dons for a fee in the region of £5million in 2015 and established himself as a first team regular and England international under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino.
Sherwood believes that if Mourinho had been at the helm when Dele made the move, it would not have worked out for the midfielder.
Instead, he suggested that Mourinho’s tendency is not to buy promising young players from the lower leagues but issued a reminder that clubs need to be reminded that with the right recruitment strategy, there is more talent to nurture in the lower footballing pyramid
