Video: Graeme Souness gives blunt verdict of who will win between Liverpool and Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool both progressed to the Champions League final after dramatic comebacks in their respective semi final matches.

Liverpool came back from a 3-0 defeat in the first leg at Barcelona to win 4-0 at Anfield in the return fixture on Tuesday night.

Ajax looked to be likely opponents when they found themselves 3-0 ahead on aggregate with just 45 minutes of the second leg remaining in Amsterdam only for Spurs to stage a spirited second half display which saw Lucas Moura score a hat-trick which was enough for his side to go through on away goals.

Souness, who started his career at Spurs as a schoolboy before going to make a household name for himself at Liverpool believes that it will be Jurgen Klopp’s side who are victorious on June 1st.

He believes that Liverpool have the better players which will prove to be enough to cause Tottenham heartache in Madrid.

“For Klopp, it’ll be all about the games in the last few years [final defeats] don’t count for nothing,” Souness told Virgin Media.

“For Pochettino, it’s all about reminding them about how close they were.

“The last two games that have been Anfield, when Spurs have gone there, this season and last season, Spurs were unlucky on both occasions. But Liverpool will win it – they have better players, simple as.”
